Where is the deep dive? When do we generate the curiosity and energy and attention to really, really get to know a subject? To make it our own so that its subject becomes a part of our cognitive and emotional fabric.
So that the next time we’re at a networking event, or an interview, or preparing a speech perhaps we’ll recall a theme or a concept that enables us to add real substance to the story we’re trying to tell. We’re not simply regurgitating the latest gossip or corporate data points so that we can sound current or ‘on point’. Instead, if we paid attention and truly absorbed the author’s messages, then we enlarged the conversation and by extension, ourselves.
