“Let not your mind run on what you lack as much as what you have already.”
“How much more grievous are the consequences of anger than the cause of it.”
“The object of life is not to find ourselves in the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.”
If our corporate and political leaders cannot resist communicating with us (and leading us?) in 140 characters or less then maybe it’s time that our scientists figure out a way to reanimate the Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius. In lieu of making threats or trading barbs or issuing anodyne economic news they could at least try to expand our thinking, shift our perspective and guide us towards a better life. (And if they can’t bring back the Emperor, then maybe they could try dipping into his ‘Meditations’ before they once again press ‘Send’.)
“Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future too.”
